If you want to design a kitchen you will have to consider a concept called "Universal Design". You will probably only be planning with your specific requirements for right now in mind. You should however try planning for the future as well.
The Universal Design concept is the idea that you should design your kitchen in such a way that everyone can be comfortable in it. It tells you to incorporate a wide range of people into your kitchen design. This is a great idea to consider when designing a kitchen.
You should begin by reviewing the sizes of your kitchen. This will tell you how much space you have for appliances, furniture, accessories etc. Also think about where you will be placing appliances, how much workspace you will need as well as how many people will be passing through your kitchen on a regular basis.
The following 8 questions will help you plan your kitchen design.
1. What will you want from your kitchen as far as standards are concerned? Will you need the latest gadgets?
2. What appliances will you need? Where will you be placing them?
3. What are the things you like about your current kitchen? What don´t you like?
4. What about the layout? Do you like it?
5. Which is your favorite design style?
6. Will your be able to have your kitchen design match the style of your house?
7. What styles have you seen elsewhere that you liked?
8. What colors do you like?
